Heavy Towing Pittsburgh Team Work Hand in Hand with Remediation and Traffic Control Units
PA State Police requested the presence of our heavy towing Pittsburgh team after a truck jackknifed on the highway on July 9, 2020. To make matters worse, the truck had been damaged during the accident and was now leaking fuel and contaminating the area. McGann and Chester immediately dispatched a heavy towing team along with an Environmental Clean-Up team and a Recovery and Traffic Control Unit.
Without the proper team in place, this recovery could have been extremely dangerous (and that’s not even taking into account the fuel leaking out of the truck!). Thankfully, McGann and Chester’s extensive experience helped them avoid any possible complications. The traffic control unit immediately jumped into action creating a barrier between incoming traffic and the recovery team. The heavy duty towing team gently lifted the trailer, making the fuel tank accessible. The remaining fuel was pumped into hazmat barrels in order to prep the truck for towing. Hazmat booms, spill pads, and oil were used to remove contaminants from the area.
With the fuel situation under control, the towing team was now able to focus on getting the truck off of the highway. They first hooked up the heavy duty wrecker up to the front axle of the tractor trailer. The team slowly moved the truck away from the scene as the environmental team was still working hard to get everything cleared up. Once it was out of the spill area, the tractor trailer was prepped for towing and brought to McGann and Chester’s yard for safe keeping.
This incident saw the remediation, traffic control, and heavy duty towing teams working together with the PA State Police to achieve a great outcome. Fantastic work out there!
